A Chinese American Beach Wedding

LIJIA & YANDA

Lijia and Yanda really wanted wedding that was a blend of both their traditional Chinese roots and their new American ones. The are both Chinese immigrants, moving to America with their families when they were very young. Now Duke graduates (and Lijia now a doctor!), showing honor to everyone and everything that has made them who they are today was a central theme of the wedding.

I spent 3 days with these two over the course of their wedding date.  We did a pre-wedding couple's shoot in the rolling dunes of the southern Outer Banks, their full wedding day where they said I Do on the beach and then partied the night away under traditional red lanterns, and finally, capturing their traditional Chinese wedding garb on their final day, while exploring the Elizabethan Gardens.

It was a beautiful event full of a sweet love, not just between Lijia and Yanda, but all of their friends and family who have been a big part of their journey and creating the life they now live.
