To Say I Do in a Hurricane
KELSEY & CAM
On the day Hurricane Ian was passing over North Carolina, creating endless rain, wind, mist, and grey skies, these two embraced Mother Nature and celebrated their love and family through it all. Due to lots of flooding on the southern part of the island, groups of guests couldn't make it or were late, everything got pushed inside, and almost everything was a Plan B or Plan C. Despite this, Kelsey, Cam, their families, and I all agree the magic and fun that ensued and preserved this day was unmatched.
Weddings like this are a true testament to what love, positivity fun, and living in the moment can do for you on your wedding day. Kelsey would want me to be authentic in saying that of course there were tears, stress, and disappointment. There was a freaking massive storm passing over the island giving us some of the worst weather we had all summer! But, through love, acceptance, support, a couple breaks in the rain, and maybe a few fireball shots too, everyone was able to create the dream wedding they didn't even know they'd were meant to have.
While rainy days can make things difficult for photographers, or anyone with gear that needs to stay dry, this ended up being one of my favorite weddings of the year. It is raw, beautiful, fun, and visceral. I am endlessly grateful to my couples for trusting me and surredering to the present moment, and each other.
